scottScott Rowland
The 2008 season was Coach Scott Rowland's ninth and final season as head coach of the Oakton High School Baseball Team. The Oakton Baseball Program established itself as one of the top programs in the state of Virginia during this time, making four trips to the Virginia State Tournament. Oakton has had numerous players go on to play college baseball during Coach Rowland’s tenure, including six players from the 2008 squad.

During his first year at Oakton (2000), Coach Rowland and the Cougar baseball team made a clean sweep in the post season as they captured the Concorde District Title, The Northern Region Championship and the first AAA Virginia State Championship in school history. In 2001, The Cougars defended their Regional Title by claiming their second straight Regional Championship. The 2003 Oakton squad put themselves in the Oakton record books by becoming the first team in Concorde District history to post an undefeated regular season record (14-0).  Coach Rowland’s 2006 team became his second to go to the State Championship game despite losing a controversial 9-8 thriller. The Cougars rebounded in 2007 to win the Northern Region Championship and were also the only team in the state to make a repeat appearance in the State Tournament.

Coach Rowland was named the Head Baseball Coach at South Lakes High School prior to the 1997 season. During his three years at South Lakes, the Seahawks won the Concorde District Championship, the Northern Region Title, and made a final four appearance in the State Tournament. To date, Coach Rowland is the only coach to lead two different schools to Northern Region Championships. Due to his team's successes and achievements, Coach Rowland has received "Coach of the Year" honors in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
